When I first conceived of the idea of my book, I wanted to make a story out of the many sermons I’ve heard my pastors give on the subject of forgiveness.  Each time one speaks on the topic, I sit there and go through my own list, a list of the many wrongs done at my expense.  “Yes,” I think, “I’ve forgiven that one.  I’m keeping my distance, but I’ve forgiven.  Same for that one.  And that one.  But that other one, I’m still thinking about that.”  Yes, I know it’s like carrying half-eaten hamburgers around in my pocket, and yes, I know I’m the one who loses.

But true forgiveness…there aren’t many stories about it.

I read one today.  And you should, too.  It’s one of the most remarkable things I’ve read in a while.
